Baby Nursery Décor – What colours is best to use?

What colors best suit baby? Research has indicated that soft colors are the best way to go. Baby is new to this world and his senses are experiencing many new and wonderful things. By selecting soft colors, you create an atmosphere of soothing, calming qualities that baby can adjust to easily. However if you just cant help yourself and want to select a bold vibrant color, consider using it for accents throughout baby’s nursery like for trim on the walls or designs on fabric.

Another thing you might want to consider with colors is their psychological benefit or unwanted effect. Each color has been proven to yield different psychological responses from human beings. I know this may sound a little overboard, but remember baby is like a sponge that is taking in every sight, sound, and touch around and what baby sees now may have an impact on behavior later. Let’s take a look at some of the more popular colors and see if they have a positive influence on baby.

Black may not be a color you want to include in your nursery decor. It symbolizes authority and power and is a color that implies submission. This is seen as an adult color and should not be forced upon baby. Bottom line, I would stay away from black.

We want a happy baby and the best color to get the job done is the bright and cheerful color yellow, right? Wrong! Despite what you may think, yellow is the worst color you could use in the nursery. Why? Because it is believed that yellow rooms cause people to loose their tempers and make babies cry. And we don’t want that now do we? In my opinion, I would stay away from using yellow as a main color in your nursery decor ventures.
