Four Ways For Americans To Be More Environmentally Friendly Today

With people being encouraged to be more environmentally conscious, they are selecting things that are considered to be green. A lot of companies are now promoting themselves to be good for the environment and people that want to be sure to do things that will not be bad for the environment are seeking out such companies . Some examples of items that you may find to be environmentally conscious are building materials to build green homes, environmentally friendly hybrid cars, organic food that are grown on earth friendly farms and even a place to have a green burial at a green cemetery.

One of the latest trends in home construction are homes that are being built using all environmentally aware materials. These materials are typically twice as expensive as traditional materials but those that want a totally green home find the investment to be well worth it. One couple in Boulder, Colorado sold their large traditional home to build a house that was considerably smaller but was going to be a completely earth friendly home. They said giving up the space was worth being more environmental and being able to live a real green life. Every aspect was thought of including the heating and purification of rainwater by having solar power to warm it up. Hopefully once the economy gets better, people will consider using these earth friendly materials to construct their new house.

Another product that has been gaining popularity with Americans as they continue to learn about the benefits of being more environmentally aware is in the purchase of cars. It is a wide spread fact that cars and truck emissions are causing a great deal of pollution and contributing to the global warming issue . Car manufacturers in recent years have made many vehicles that not only give off fewer toxins into the environment but are also able to run on less gasoline while using electricity to operate the vehicle also . These vehicles that use both gas and electrical power are known as hybrid vehicles and the majority of car companies have at least one hybrid vehicle in their line of vehicles.

Americans are also becoming more conscious of what they eat and ways the food that they eat gets to the store that they purchase it from. More and more customers are deciding topurchase their food locally which is good for the earth by saving the energy that was originally used to transport that food a far distance. A lot of farmers are also promoting their food to be more green by not using harmful chemicals or pesticides.

One final area a lot of Americans do not think of but it quite important is what your wishes are for when you die . Like many other things, cemeteries are also becoming green for burial. There are only four such burial sites in America but they follow the belief in returning your body to the earth in a natural state with no embalming fluid or steel casket items to be buried. Everything is done with concern for the earth.
