Eczema covers a group of skin conditions also known as dermatitis that affects all age groups. Eczema is most often treated with glucocorticoid ointments, creams or lotions. Weak steroidal solutions like hydrocortisone and desonide are often recommend for mild or moderate eczema. In more severe situations, high potency steroids like clobetasol propionate are the treatment of choice.

Doctors may also prescribe antibiotics for eczema. Dry cracked skin can leave an easy pathway for an infection to start. Having a skin infection can irritate your skin even more and cause even bigger problems.
